Danny Garcia and Robert Guerrero to Fight for WBC Welterweight Title

Next weeks welterweight bout at the Staples Center between former world champions the undefeated Danny “Swift” Garcia (31-0, 18 KOs) of Philadelphia and Gilroy, California's Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (33-3-1, KOs) will now be for the WBC welterweight title. With Floyd Mayweather retired, a plan of activity was announced earlier today with Garcia and Guerrero now slated to fight for the vacant WBC title.

The two have previously held the WBC titles as Robert Guerrero won the interim world title over Selcuk Aydin in July of 2012. Garcia won the vacant WBC super lightweight title in March of 2012 with a unanimous decision over Mexican icon Erik Morales.

Garcia vs. Guerrero will be a scheduled 12 round championship fight and will take place next Saturday January 23 live on the series debut of Premier Boxing Champions on FOX.
