Golden Boy Signs Mexican Prospect Oscar Duarte


Undefeated super featherweight prospect, Oscar Duarte(4-0-1, 3 KOs) of Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico has signed a promotional agreement with Golden Boy Promotions it was announced today. The 20-year-old, who is managed by famous Mexican actor Gabriel Soto, will make his debut as a Golden Boy Promotions fighter on Feb. 19 at LA FIGHT CLUB at the Belasco Theater in downtown Los Angeles.

"Oscar De La Hoya and Canelo Alvarez are big heroes of mine and to be alongside them at Golden Boy Promotions is a dream come true for me," said Oscar Duarte. "I am very grateful for the opportunity and feel a big responsibly to them to prove that I have what it takes to one day become a world champion. I want to thank my team, Gabriel Soto, Guillermo Rocha and Ricardo Mijares for helping me get to this point in my career."

A 20-year-old Mexican Phenom hoping to follow in the footsteps of countryman Canelo Alvarez, Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico's Oscar Duarte is a third year engineering student at the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua. He began boxing at 11-years-old and six months after his introduction to boxing, Duarte competed at the amateur level and quickly amassed five state championships, five regional titles and an a record of 62-4. Duarte made his professional debut on the under card of former world champions Victor "Vikingo" Terrazas vs. Cristian "El Diamante" Mijares in 2013, defeating Manuel Isaias via first round technical knockout. Afterward, Duarte stayed busy in 2013 - 2014 adding victories to his record against Jesus "Chutas" Reyes, Roberto Zermeno and Jasil Duran. In September of 2015, Duarte introduced himself to U.S. fans with an impressive four-round win over previously unbeaten Alejandro "Po Po" Salinas that lifted his record to 4-0-1. Managed by one of his country's biggest celebrities in actor Gabriel Soto, Duarte is expected to deliver big things in the boxing world in the coming years.
