Michael Perez Wins 6 Round Technical Decision Over Martin Honorio at Belasco

Super lightweight Michael Angelo "The Artist" Perez of Newark, New Jersey and Mexican veteran Martin "Brochas" Honorio squared off on the Boxeo Estelar on Estrella TV main event as Golden Boy Promotions celebrated its one year anniversary of its LA Fight Club series from the Belasco Theatre in downtown Los Angeles with and action packed fight. 

 

Boxing away in the opening round Perez and Honorio jabbed away to start off. In round two Honorio stalked behind the jab as Perez stick and moved, later in the round a clash of head caused huge cuts on both fighters as Honorio was cut really bad on the side of his head gushing blood, Perez was cut on the side of the left ear and had another cut under his left eye. With both fighters covered in blood in round three Perez and Honorio boxed more cautiously. The Mexican landed a solid right hand in round four, snapping Perez's head as blood continued to flow on the two fighters cuts, Perez returned the favor as he landed a right closing the round strong.  The fight appeared even going into the fifth round with Perez jabbing, Honorio connected with a short right hand as they finished the round exchanging in the center. 

 

 

 

Halfway through Perez backed Honorio to the ropes in round six connecting with some solid rights as Honorio appeared to be fading. The fight did not go on due to the cuts cause by an accidental on both fighters as the fight was stopped at end of the round. All three judges scored the bout 60-54 for Perez.

 

 

With the win Michael Perez improves to 24-1-2, 11 KOs. Martin Honorio goes to 33-10-1, 16 KO's 

 

Los Angeles's local prospect Christian "Chimpa" Gonzalez made quick work of veteran journeyman David Rodela of Oxnard in the LA Fight Club co feature bout. A counter overhand right by "Chimpa" Gonzalez did it as Rodela was dropped referee Wayne Hedgepeth waived it at 2:16 of the first round. 

 

 

"Chimpa" Gonzalez stays unbeaten as a prospect and goes to 13-0, 12 KO's. David Rodela goes to 17-13-4, 7 KOs.

 

 

Undefeated super bantamweights LA. based Colombian prospect Oscar "Colombia" Negrete and Tijuana's Neftali Campos squared off in a scheduled eight rounder as they opened up the Boxeo Estelar on Estrella TV telecast. The two fought at fast pace in the opening round with Campos landing a huge right on Negrete. In round two Negrete got inside of Campos's range attacking the body and landing some overhand rights. Negrete pinned Campos up against the ropes in round three connecting with short crisp punches. 

 

 

Exchanging on the inside in round four the Colombian fighter tagged Campos to the body and followed upstairs as Negrete began to take charge of the fight. Campos continued to hold his own in round five as Negrete worked effectively on the inside. In round six Negrete was on top of Campos, pinning him up against the ropes busting the Mexican fighters face. Negrete continued his dominance throughout the fight in route to a unanimous decision as all three judges scored the bout 80-72.

 

 

Oscar Negrete stays undefeated at 13-0, 5 KOs as he hands Neftali Campos his first loss and goes to 11-1, 9 KO's.

 

Other Bouts

 

Making his pro debut Santa Ana's super welterweight Alexis Rocha scored a third round stoppage over Jordan Rosario of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The southpaw Rocha landed the left solidly numerous times on Rosario in the opening round. Rocha continued to attack Rosario in round two as referee Wayne Hedgepeth stepped in to stop the fight at 1:43.

 

Alex Rocha wins his pro debut and goes to 1-0, 1 KO. Jordan Rosario goes to 0-4. 

 

Super bantamweights Rafael Gramajo of Los Angeles and St. Louis's Sharone Carter in a scheduled six rounder. Gramajo attacked the slick Carter in the opening round. The following round Gramajo cornered Carter with constant pressure as Carter was on the run. In round three Gramajo connected solidly on the inside as Carter boxed and circled. 

 

Halfway into the fight in round four Gramajo continued to stalk as Carter kept his distance. Round five saw Gramajo attack the body as Carter held and slipped most of the round. The sixth and final round Gramajo continued to fight his fight and finished strong as Carter demonstrated he wanted no part of Gramajo by voluntarily going down to canvas four times and holding.

 

All three judges scored the bout 59-54 as Rafael Gramajo wins a unanimous decision improving his record to 7-1-1, 2 KO's. Sharone Carter suffers his first loss and goes to 4-1, 2 KO's.

 

In the opening bout from the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles super featherweight Ivan Delgado won a unanimous decision over Jesus Sandoval of Mazatlan, Mexico. Delgado pressed the southpaw Sandoval throughout the fight and in round five Delgado connected with some left hooks cutting Sandoval above the right eye. Delgado finished strong in route to the decision win. Judges scored the bout 60-54, 59-55, and 59-55. 

 

Ivan Delgado stays undefeated 9-0-1, 2 KO's. Jesus Sandoval goes to 5-9-3, 1 KO.
