Francisco Vargas vs Orlando Salido Press Conference


WBC super featherweight champion Francisco "El Bandido" Vargas (23-0-1, 17 KOs) of Mexico City and former three-time world champion Orlando "Siri" Salido (43-13-3, 30 KOs, 1 NC) of Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico held a press conference Thursday afternoon in Los Angeles at the historic Olvera Street Plaza to announce their June 4 showdown taking place at the Stub Hub Center in Carson, California live on HBO.

“It gives me great pleasure to bring you WBC super featherweight champion Francisco "El Bandido" Vargas vs Orlando "Siri" Salido," Oscar De la Hoya said in opening up the press conference. "This promises to be another great fight between two Mexican warriors for the WBC suepr featherweight title just like Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera vs Juan Manuel Marquez," De La Hoya added.

"I like to thank Orlando Salido and Francisco Vargas when everyone talks Fight of the Year you kow there will be excitement. We are honored to present these guys on HBO. Join us on June 4th," HBO's Tony Walker said.

"The Stub Hub is where many great fights have taken place. Francisco Vargas vs Orlando Salido both ahve had wars. We will witness the best Mexico has to offer the world deserves fights like this. May the best man win," WBC's Jose Sulaiman Jr. said.

Salido and his camp followed.

"I can only imagine on June 4th. I would pay to see this fight. I hope I can see everyone on June 4th," Salido's manager Sean Gibbons said.

"This is a guaranteed fight it will be a clash. We see this as an opportunity. God bless and may the best man win," Salido's trainer Jose Santos Moreno said.

"We are here to present this fight. You want to see a war, I will prepare myself and I know it's going to be a good fight. I don't dance I come to fight you will see June 4th," Orlando Salido said. "I promise you a fight of the year, you will see and enjoy a great fight," Salido promised.

Team Vargas

"On June 4th you will see fireworks. Just to be clear not July 4th. June 4th we will remain champions," Vargas co-manager Moses Heredia said.

"Francisco is excited to be fighting Orlando Salido. He knows what is at stake because Salido is a warrior," Vargas manager Ralph Heredia said.

"I am really motivated to be fighting a warrior like Salido. To give you all a good fight," Francisco Vargas said. "When you get two Mexican's in the ring, you will see a war," Vargas added.

Vargas is coming off a tenth round stoppage over Takashi Miura as he rallied from a knockdown and was badly cut as he won the WBC super featherweight title in the 2015 Fight of the Year. Salido in his last fight came up short in earning a draw against Roman Martinez in their rematch as many experts saw Salido winning. The two Mexican warriors will get it on under the lights at the Stub Hub Center, a venue which has hosted many memorable fights including Mexican warriors Israel Vasquez vs. Rafael Marquez.Vargas vs. Salido will be a scheduled 12 round battle for Vargas’s WBC super featherweight title.

"It will be a great fight. We know that Orlando Salido is a warrior. This will be a very intense fight we are working very hard in the gym because we know we have a tough challenge," Francisco Vargas told Southern California Boxing.com

"This is an opportunity that has been given to me, I want to thank Vargas and his team. It will be a sensational fight," Oralndo Salido told Southern California Boxing.com
