Kazakh superstar undefeated unified middleweight world champion Gennady, “GGG” Golovkin, (34-0 31KO’s) is less than one week away from his fight against undefeated mandatory challenger Dominic Wade, (18-0 12 KO’s) this Saturday, April 23 at the Fabulous Forum in Los Angeles.
"Camp has gone very well yesterday was my last day, today I am relaxing and enjoying my time,"Golovkin said. "I am focused and ready," Gennady "GGG" Golovkin added.
"I saw a couple of Wade's fights, he is not easy and is a smart guy and good boxer," Golovkin said.
Kicking off fight week, Golovkin took the hill Sunday night at Dodgers Stadium as he threw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants game. Golovkin met with 5- time All-Star first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and former Dodgers manager Hall-of-Famer Tommy Lasorda. We caught up with Golovkin also spoke about his appreciation for Dodger blue.
"This is amazing and great. This is my home, its my third time here at Dodger Stadium. This is my team and my fans," Golovkin said. "All my friends played baseball I practiced sometimes in Big Bear. I have power but no technique, its okay," Golovkin added
Golovkin vs. Wade will be a scheduled 12 round championship fight for Golovkin’s WBA, IBF, IBO and WBC “Interim” titles live on HBO World Championship Boxing.
Co-featured will be Consensus #1 Pound-For-Pound Fighter and WBC Flyweight World Champion Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez, 44-0 (38KO’s) battling World Ranked Contender McWilliams Arroyo, 16-2 (14KO’s) of Puerto Rico.
Both bouts will be televised Live on HBO World Championship Boxing® beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT.
