Vargas Salido Speak at Post Fight Press Conference

Following their epic showdown Francisco "El Bandido" Vargas of Mexico City and former three-time world champion Orlando "Siri" Salido of Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, spoke about their bout at the post fight press conference at the Stub Hub Center in Carson, California on HBO Boxing After Dark as they fought to a draw.

Opening the post fight press conference was the Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya as he talked about the battle between the two Mexican warriors.

"I am very happy to once again be part of a spectacular show in particular the Vargas Salido fight. Tonight we witnessed a fight of the year," De La Hoya said. "I congratulate Vargas and Salido," De La Hoya added.

Eric Gomez of Golden Boy Promotions also spoke.

"What a great night. Today was a special night. We had good fight," Gomez said.

Salido accompanied by his team, manager Sean Gibbons and publicist Ricardo Jimenez with the translating spoke.

"I fought a good fight against a tough Mexican. Everyone knows what happens when you have 2 Mexican warriors. It was a hard fight we went toe to toe It was a close fight but I think I did enough to win," Salido said.

Orlando Salido goes to 43-13-4, 30 KO's as his options open up with potential rematches with Vasyl Lomachenko and Rocky Martinez who square off next week as well as Francisco Vargas.

"I am not finished and I proved it tonight I can still fight," Salido said. "I dont know whats next we are open to anything. You all know what about," Salido added.

After getting stitched up Vargas arrived to the post fight press conference as he got 15-20 stitches on each eye he suffered cuts on.

"Well I am happy, it was a great fight as promised. Salido is a great fighter it was a war as expected I hope this is a fight of the year. I know the fight was close late in the fight and I know I hurt him plenty of times," Vargas said. "It was a hard fight coming off the Miura fight as expected we had a war. The cuts were caused by headbutts, it happens and they were a disadvantage,"

Francisco Vargas retains his WBC super featherweight title goes to 23-0-2, 17 KO's as he is coming off back to back wars against Takashi Miura and now Salido.

"I am satisfied, I learned from this. Next time I know what to expect from him," Vargas said. "First I need to rest then I will talk to my team, my manager, and my promoter to see what's next,"

Lopez Speaks on Win

Featherweight Abraham 'Chamaco" Lopez of La Puente, California was also present at the post fight press conference as he talked about his controversial win over previously undefeated Julian "Camaron" Ramirez of East L.A. which opened up the HBO Boxing After Dark telecast.

"I want to thank god. It was a tough fight Julian was well prepared, we got the W at the end," Lopez said. "It was a close fight I thought I won, I landed the cleaner punches," Lopez added.

"Whatever Golden Boy Promotions has for me to get back. I am ready for what they want for me," Lopez said. "I will give him a rematch it was a tough fight," Lopez added.
