Below is what the fighters and officers had to say about their upcoming fights at today's workout:
OSCAR "JAGUAR" NEGRETE, Bantamweight Prospect:
"I've been training for three months and have also been sparring with Leo Santa Cruz to strengthen my condition. I know my opponent throws a lot of punches, but this also causes him to weaken his defense.
"I am also making sure to focus on body shots to take the knockout and capture the victory of the night."
EMILIO SANCHEZ, Super Bantamweight Prospect:
"I've been training hard in the gym, and I've been feeling really good with my sparring. I'm really excited to fight on TV for the first time and having my family all be able to watch is very special to me. After the fight, I'll be excited to eat and celebrate my victory."
CARLOS ROSAS, LAPD Officer Newton Division:
"It's been about three years since I've been in the ring and I can't wait to be back. I used to be an amateur boxer.
It feels great to get back in boxing, for me it's like riding a bike, you never forget how to train.
"I'm proud to support the cause to fight breast cancer. This really hits home because I had a scare with my mother when she was getting tested.
"The whole mentality of boxing is great because I'm training with my LAPD brothers and sisters. I've been training everyday since I found out about this event, and hope to stay with the LAPD boxing program."
BRIAN PETRELLA, Pasadena Police Department:
"This is a great opportunity that has come up for me to fight for a cause and represent the Pasadena Police Department. I've been boxing for about five years and I'm exciting to get in the ring.
"I don't know too much about my opponent but I'm sure he's a good competitor, and we'll be putting on a show in the ring."
DEIDRE FONSECA, LAPD Northeast Division:
"I'm really happy to be participating in this charity boxing event. I've been working out and training really hard for this event.
"My dad was big in boxing and I've been fighting for 10 years. My dad taught me the technique of rapid fire punches and that body shots are everything."
