It was the Philippines vs Mexico Saturday night at Stub Hub Center in Carson, California as WBO Intercontinental flyweight champion Donnie Nietes of the Philippines took on Mexico's former world champion Edgar Sosa. Nietes was dominant as he staggered Sosa with power shots early in the fight. The Filipino continued to dictate the pace in the ring countering Sosa effectively as he handily cruised his way to a unanimous decision.
WBO International featherweight champion Mark Magsayo (14-0, 11 KO's) won a unanimous decision over Ramiro Robles in a scheduled 12 round bout. Magsayo attacked the body in the opening round. In round two Magsayo dropped Robles with a double right hook. Later in the seventh round the Filipino sent Robles to the canvas a second time with a body shot. Magsayo continued to dominate Robles in route to a unanimous decision.
King Arthur Villanueva of Bago City, Philippines knocked out Juan Jimenez in two rounds in a scheduled 12 round bantamweight bout. Villanueva cracked Jimenez with a right hand as Jimenez was out cold referee Jerry Cantu stopped the fight.
Isaac Freeman (3-3-1, 3 KO's) of Los Angeles scored fourth round knockout over Joel Siapno of San Leandro (2-2-1, 2 KO's) in a scheduled six round junior middleweight bout. Siapno landed the right hand solidly on Freeman in the early rounds. Freeman gained some momentum afterwards sending Siapno to the canvas with rihgt uppercut as he got up Freeman continued his attack sending him to the canvas for a second time as referee Zachary Young stops it at 2:50 of round four.
Cesar Hernandez (2-1, 2 KO) of Tracy, California scored a second round knockout over Martin Murillo (0-2) of Los Angeles Hernandez landed two hard left hooks then dropped him with a right hand. Hernandez dropped Murillo twice in round two with a right hand as the referee Jack Reiss finally waived it at 1:53.
Welterweights Ben Garcia of New York and Latorie Woodberry (1-2-1) of Virgina went the distance in a scheduled four round bout. Latorie pulled out the split decision as the judges scored the bout 39-36, 39-37, and 38-37.
In the opening bout Abraham Ruiz Calderon (1-3) won a unanimous decision over Ezra Hernandez of West Covina in a scheduled four round middleweight bout.
