Cuellar Mares Final Press Conference


With only 2 days to go WBA featherweight champion Jesus Cuellar (28-1, 21 KO's) of Argentina and former three-division world champion Abner Mares (29-2-1, 15 KO's) of Hawaiian Gardens, California by way of Gudalajara, Jalisco, Mexico held the final press conference Thursday afternoon at Galen Center Founders Club for their showdown taking place this Saturday at the Galen Center on the campus of U.S.C in Los Angeles live on Showtime.

Ringstar Sports's Richard Schaefer opened up the press conference as it will be hosting there inaugural event.

"From top to bottom this is one of the best cards. When you look at these 2 cards you have 2 events that that can be main events. These 4 guys are meant for each other," Schaefer said.

Jesus Cuellar

"The moment has come. I am ready to get in the ring and willing to give it my all. I want to thank my team and I am sure that I will bring the title back to Argentina," Cuellar said.

Freddie Roach

"We are ready to go and wish you all the best. May the best man win,"

Abner Mares

"You guys know me. I am always giving you good fights. Here I am facing another tough fighter. We chose Jesus Cuellar, he is one of the hardest punchers. I am looking forward to this test,"

"This fight I will graduate. You will see a tremendous fighter and a fight of the year. It will be an early Christmas gift,"

Robert Garcia

"We are ready for Saturday night. This Saturday night we will show what we have been doing for a whole year. I wish everyone the best and good luck,"

Also at Thursday’s press conference was IBF super welterweight champion Jermall Charlo (24-0, 18 KO’s) of Houston and Philadelphia’s Julian “J- Rock” Williams (22-0-1, 14 KO’s) as they will square off in the co-main event in 12 round bout for Charlo’s IBF title.

Jermall Charlo

"I had a great camp. Im fighting for than the IBF title but for my legacy. Saturday night dont matter where you from I know what I came to do,"

Ronnie Shields

"Jermall has come a long way. He has put in hard work this is what he does. We are very confident Jernall is going to win,"

Julian Williams:

"Tough fight it's going to be we had a rough camp. Im really excited for this fight. Saturday night will be my time to shine,"

Stephen Edwards:

"Julian just wants to fight but Jermall is in his way. Saturday night you will see why he is boxing's best kept secret,"
