Manuel "La Tormenta" Mendez (14-1-2, 10 KOs) scored a knockout victory during the Thompson Boxing "Night of Champions" main event on Saturday night at the Doubletree Hotel in Orange, California over Costa Rica's Bergman Aguilar (14-3-1, 4 KOs). A left hook to the body did in the third round as Mendez was victorious.
In the co-feature, Juan Reyes (14-3-3, 2 KOs) of Riverside, California won a unanimous decision over veteran Miguel Angel Mendoza (23-11-2) of Mexico. The judges scores were 78-74, 78-74, and 79-73.

Heavyweight Jonathan Rice (6-2-1, 4 KOs) of Los Angeles scored a fifth round knockout over Mario Heredia (14-7, 12 KOs). Rice had scored two knockdowns early in the fight as he dropped Heredia for the third time in the fifth round the referee waived the fight off at the 2:02.

Jose Salinas (1-0, 1 KO) of Indio, California was victorious in his professional debut over Johnny Black (3-5, 2 KOs) of Las Vegas in scoring a first round knockout. The referee stopped the fight after a barrage at the 2:37 mark of the opening round.
