Two-time female world champion Keliesha “Wild Wild” West is set to return to the ring this Saturday September 23 in the main event of the 79th edition of World Fighting Championship (WFC), a professional boxng card to be held at the Agua Caliente Casino in Racho Mirage and that will also feature local up and coming prospects, Javier Padilla and Ryan Caballero, brother of former world champion Randy Caballero
Keliesha West (16-2-3, 4 KO’s) of Moreno Valley, California will take on Kriestie Simmons (8-2, 2 KO’s) of Aurora, Colorado in a six round 128 pound bout in West’s first fight in over two years.
“I had some promotional issues but I am ready to come back and start my new journey towards another world championship,” said West, a former bantamweight and Jr. Bantamweight world champion and one of the first female stars in the sport.
“Female boxing is now a big part of the boxing landscape and I am looking forward to returning to the top the boxing world,” added West
The very popular Caballero (2-0) of Coachella, California will battle Melfi Monterroso (0-1) in a four round featherweight bout.
Also in the card is local prospect Javier Padilla (3-0-1, 3 KOs) of Rancho Mirage, who is managed and trained by Joel Diaz.
Padilla who will be featured on a four-round featherweight bout had a spectacular knockout of Bacillo Monterroso back in June in this same venue.
WFC has promoted 78 boxing and MMA shows throughout the United States over the past four years and this will be their second boxing show in California this year. Their cards are full of local talent, giving them the opportunity to showcase their talent in front of their hometown fans. There will be a total of eight professional bouts.
