Results From Fantasy Springs: Sandoval Stops Tabugon


Flyweight Ricard "El Niño" Sandoval (18-1, 13 KOs) of Riverside, California defeated Filipino Raymond "Tornado" Tabugon (22-12-1, 11 KOs) by seventh-round stoppage in the main event of Golden Boy and DAZN's Thursday Night Fights at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California. A hard left led to the stoppage as the referee stopped the fight at 1:43 of the seventh.

In the co-main event, Oscar "El Jaguar" Negrete (19-2-2, 7 KOs) of Tierralta, Colombia defeated Alberto "Impacto" Melian (6-2,4 KOs) of Buenos Aires, Argentina via unanimous decision in a 10-round fight for the vacant WBA International Bantamweight Title. Negrete won with scores of 97-93, 98-92 and 98-92.

Sulem Urbina (12-0, 2 KOs) of Phoenix, Arizona beat Noemi "No-No" Bosques (12-15-3, 2 KOs) of St. Petersburg, Florida via unanimous decision in a six-round super featherweight fight. Urbina won with three scores of 60-54.

Leonardo "Leon" Baez (18-2, 9 KOs) of Mexicali, Mexico defeated Moises "Chucky" Flores (25-3, 7 KOs) of Guadalajara, Mexico via unanimous decision in an eight-round featherweight fight. Baez won with three scores of 80-72.

Super Bantamweights Anthony "The Quiet Storm" Reyes (7-0-1, 5 KOs) of Coachella, Calif. and Diuhl "Elegante" Olguin (14-13-4, 9 KOs) of Guadalajara, Mexico fought to a third-round technical draw after a headbutt, which caused a severe cut on Reyes' forehead, forced the referee to stop the action at :35 seconds.

Oscar Acevedo (7-0) of Los Angeles, Calif. defeated Dan Murray (5-3) of Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey via technical majority decision in a scheduled six-round clash. The fight was stopped at 2:36 of the last round after Murray suffered a severe cut, which was caused by a headbutt. The action went to the scorecards, where Acevedo was victorious with scores of 59-55, 57-57 and 59-55.

Anthony Garnica (5-0, 3 KOs) of Oakland, Calif. scored a four-round split decision win against Luis Alvarado (1-1) of Pasco, Washington in a super featherweight bout. Garnica won with scores of 39-37, 40-36 and 38-38.

Jan "Nito" Salvatierra (4-0, 2 KOs) of Los Cabos, Mexico stopped Miguel Rebullosa (4-10, 2 KOs) of Coahuila, Mexico in a super flyweight battle after a barrage of punches from Salvatierra forced the referee to stop the action. The fight came to a halt at 1:47 of the fourth round.
