Boxing Returns & Back For More

Boxing returned this past Saturday night at the Polideportivo Alexis Arguello, Managua, Nicaragua. This was the first official card world wide since all major events had been cancelled. There was strict COVID-19 measures as fans were socially distanced in the arena and pretty much everyone except the fighters was required to wear a mask. Nicaragua's own superstar Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez was among those following the protocol.


The card was promoted by former two-division world champion Rosendo “Bufalo” Alvarez,Bufalo Boxing Promotions super featherweight Robin Zamora (16-7, 8 KOs) won an eight round unanimous decision against Ramiro Blanco (18-8-3, 10 KOs).


Super lightweight Freddy Fonseca (28-5-1, 19 KOs) was victorious when opponent Alain Aguilar (8-8-2, 1 KO) did not come out for round five.


Byron Castellon (15-13-3, 2 KOs) took a six round unanimous decision over Eliezar Gazo (18-11-2, 3 KOs). 59-55 all three official cards.


Unbeaten welterweight Gabriel Escalante (13-0, 7 KOs) not surprisingly scored a fifth round TKO over Mario Mairena (2-20-1, 1 KO).


Featherweight Brian Perez (12-11-1, 10 KOs) stopped Lesther Lara (16-11-2, 7 KOs) at 2:46 of round two.


Boxing returns to the same venue May 16 as once again Rosendo Alvarez will be promoting his second card. The main event is former world title challenger Francisco Fonseca (25-3-2, 19 KOs) against Eusebio Osejos (30-24-3, 8 KOs) in a lightweight clash. Fonseca fought Ryan “Kingry” Garcia in his last fight. Also scheduled are former world title challenger Yader Cardoza (24-16-1, 8 KOs) vs Aarón Juárez (16-7-3, 4 KOs) in a rematch of their March 14 super bantamweight clash, plus a lightweight showdown between Freddy Fonseca (28-5-1, 19 KOs) and Robin Zamora (16-7, 8 KOs).
