Ismael Flores Defeats Isaac Lucero to Open Up Benavidez Zurdo PPV

Opening the pay-per-view, undefeated super welterweight Ismael Flores (18-1-1, 12 KOs), of Barcelona, Spain by way of Argentina, handed Isaac “Puro México” Lucero (18-1, 14 KOs), of La Paz, Baja California, Mexico, his first defeat, winning a unanimous decision.


The fight began with Lucero applying pressure and connecting on Flores with solid shots early. Lucero boxed effectively in the second, with Flores on the receiving end. Things began to pick up for Flores in the fourth as he started landing solid punches while exchanging with Lucero.


In the fifth, Lucero fought more cautiously as the Argentinian stood his ground in the pocket, mixing it up. The sixth began at a slower pace, with Lucero continuing to box cautiously. Flores held his own, but in the closing seconds, Lucero unloaded, backing him up.


Lucero’s approach shifted in the seventh, but Flores continued to show toughness and apply overwhelming pressure. Late in the eighth, Lucero unleashed a combination, but Flores kept pressing, landing hard shots and stopping Lucero’s momentum. There was no quitting in Flores, as he continued to press forward and cut the distance. Heading into the final round, both fighters sensed the urgency and let it all out until the final bell.


In the end, the judges scored the bout 99-91, 98-92, and 98-92, as Flores won his U.S. and pay-per-view debut.bell.
