Jose Zepeda Receives WBC Silver Belt

José "Chon" Zepeda officially received the belt that accredits him as world champion WBC Silver super lightweight at a press conference held at Zanfer's executive offices. WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán and honorary witnessing Zanfer President Fernando Beltran and newly appointed President of Fecombox Juan Carlos Pelayo, "Chon" Zepeda said he was privileged and proud to receive this belt, which he warned, he hopes will be golden in the near future.

"I am very proud and very motivated to receive this recognition. We didn't plan a fight like this, but that's how it came out and I'm so glad I won it and got this belt. This triumph has kept us very closely global, and I hope that José Carlos Ramirez (WBC/WBO super lightweight champion) that I have already faced and for many, I beat him, and I think I beat him, he will have all four titles (he will face WBA/IBF world super lightweight champion Josh Taylor) and we will face each other again, I am already an official challenger, although I could also go down to lightweight to face the winner of Lomachenko and Lopez" Zepeda declared.

At the time of belt delivery, Mauricio Sulaimán acknowledged that Zepeda is a sign of what represents the spirit and heart of a true Mexican warrior above the ring, and prompted him to continue preparing to seize the opportunity to become world champion.

"For the WBC it is a pleasure and a pride to hand over the belt to boxers who leave everything on the ring and who are an example below it, Zepeda is a great silver world champion and we give him his belt with all honor and merit," Sulaiman explained.

Zanfer president Fernando Beltran noted that "Chon" Zepeda wrote his name in gold letters in boxing history, and starred in a fight that will transcend generations (with eight falls in total, against Ivan Berynchik, to become world super lightweight champion Silver WBC title), and assured that he will soon be world champion.

"What a great fight, of those historic, film, just give us the 'Chon', he is deserved world champion Silver and soon he will be absolute world champion, he lives up to the best, of whom you put him, and for many people, personally, he has already beat the champion José Carlos Ramírez, and we hope to face him soon," Beltran said.

Mauricio Sulaimán took the opportunity to give Zanfer, and his president Fernando Beltrán, a plaque of recognition for having returned the boxing activity in the pandemic era, following the prevention and health protocols proposed by the WBC itself, behind closed doors and with national and international television transmission.
