Undefeated featherweight prospect Rafael "Divino" Espinoza (16-0-0, 13 ko's) of Jalisco, Mexico extended his undefeated and achieved the most important victory of his career in defeating Carlos “Chinito” Ornelas (25-3-0, 14 ko’s) Saturday night at the Grand Hotel Tijuana in headlining Zanfer Promotions card on Azteca.
Boxing from a long distance thanks to the remarkable advantage he had in reach. It was effective and precise, as he connected on Ornelas much of the fight. By the eighth, Espinoza had battered Ornelas as both cheekbones swollen and bleeding from his nose. Espinoza worked his way to a decision. Scores were 98-91, 98-91, and 97-92
Tijuana super welterweight Dubiel Sánchez (16-0-2, 12 ko’s) kept his unbeaten record as he won a unanimous decision over Jose “Bronco” Rosales (39-29-1, 20 ko’s) in the co-feature bout. Sanchez had his way throughout the fight as he dominated as all three judges scored the bout 100-90.
Humberto Galindo (13-0-1, 10 ko’s) scored a second-round knockout over Gregorio “Calambres” Soto (14-4-0, 8 ko’s). Galindo sent to the canvas with a barrage of punches as the ref reached a ten count at 2:01 of the second.
Ensenada’s Rafael Guzmán (22-1-1, 14 ko’s) scored a fourth-round knockout over Tijuana’s Francisco Javier “Tarasco” Hernández (12-5-1, 7 ko’s).
