Ricardo Sandoval Defeats

Rialto, California's Ricardo Sandoval (27-2, 18 KOs) traveled to Japan to capture the WBC, WBA flyweight titles in winning a hard fought split decision over Kenshiro Teraji (25-2-1, 16 KOs) of Japan in a what was a battle Wednesday in Yokohama, Japan.


It was Sandoval boxing from the start using the jab effectively. However in the fifth, Teraji score a knockdown with a sharp left-right combination as Sandoval continued on. Kenshiro kept throwing numerous jabs, as Sandoval scored with effective right cross counters throughout the course of the bout. Teraji kept pressure with busy jabs, but it was Sandoval that connected with more effectively solid counters much of the fight in route to the split decision win.


The judges scored the bout 117-110, 115-112, for Sandoval and 114-113 for Teraji. With the win Sandoval is the new unified WBA & WBC flyweight champion
