Teofimo Lopez Rolly Romero Press Conference

The stage is set as two of boxing’s biggest showman inside and outside of the ring will square off. 

 

WBA welterweight champion Rolando “Rolly” Romero of Las Vegas and two-division world champion Teofimo Lopez held a press conference Thursday afternoon at Vine in Hollywood, California as they officially announced their world title showdown. Rolly vs. Teofimo takes place Saturday, August 22 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas headlining PBC on DAZN and Prime Video pay per view. 

 

The champ Romero returns to the ring in over a year as he defeated current WBC welterweight champion Ryan Garcia by unanimous decision and scoring a knockdown in the process. Romero looks to defend his title against his former stablemate Lopez.


 

Teofimo dropped a lopsided unanimous decision at the hands of Shakur Stevenson early this year in relinquishing the WBO super lightweight title. Now Lopez moves up in weight to challenge for his third world title in his quest to become a three-division world champion.
